The dedicated staff at McAllen Dental Care are committed to teaching the importance of prevention for better oral health. To protect our pediatric patient’s teeth, we offer dental sealants. Older patients or those at high risk for decay also benefit from the extra protection.
The chewing surfaces of back teeth have deep pits and grooves. These hard to reach crevices are almost impossible to reach with routine brushing and flossing. Dental sealants are applied to these hidden areas to form a protective barrier against plaque, bacteria and food debris. Sealants allow for proper tooth brushing and more thorough cleaning. Children who have dental sealants applied are less likely to develop cavities.
Our dental office offers tooth-colored sealants to help protect our patients’ oral health. During your office visit, your dental hygienist will apply the sealant to the surface of your back tooth. The virtually invisible barrier will bond quickly with the tooth and form a smooth layer over the pits and grooves.
Patients without the protection of dental sealants are at a much higher risk for bacteria and plaque buildup, tooth decay and cavities. Sealants can help you avoid expensive reparative dental treatments.
