Orthodontic braces are used to correct teeth misalignments and to adjust the jaw to the proper size and shape. Our orthodontist offers several treatment options to accomplish this goal, including traditional dental braces and Invisalign clear trays. Dental braces are usually associated with teenagers, but modern orthodontics are also geared toward adults who want straighter teeth but don’t want to wear traditional metal brackets and wires.
Most patients are aware of traditional metal braces consisting of square brackets, wires and elastic that work together to shift teeth into the proper position gradually. Although dental braces are suitable for patients of almost any age, they are most commonly used on teens.
Fast Braces are like metal dental braces; they also consist of brackets, wires, and elastics which work together to move teeth into the desired position. The primary difference between both types of orthodontic braces is the bracket shape. Fast Braces have triangle shaped brackets, while traditional brackets are square. This shape allows for more pressure to be applied, making for a much shorter treatment time.
Custom fit removable aligners are the latest advancement in orthodontic technology. Invisalign works the same way as other dental braces without the brackets, wires or elastics. Clear aligner trays are designed to be worn for a set period during orthodontic treatment. Invisalign is virtually undetectable and can be removed to eat, drink or brush and floss your teeth.
